NewsLeecher Setup for Easynews

This guide walks through configuring NewsLeecher to work with Easynews. NewsLeecher is a Windows-based Usenet newsreader that supports advanced features such as SSL encryption, multiple connections, and article retention controls. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1: Launch NewsLeecher

After installing NewsLeecher, open the application.

Step 2: Open Server Settings

  1. Go to the Manager tab.

  2. Click on the Servers section.

  3. Click Add Server.

Step 3: Enter Easynews Server Information

  • Server Address: news.easynews.com

  • Port: Use 563 for SSL. Alternatively, you may use 443 or 81 for SSL as well.

  • Connections: Up to 60 SSL-secured connections are supported.

  • Nickname: Choose any name, such as "Easynews."

Check the box for Use Encrypted Server (SSL) to enable a secure connection.

Step 4: Enter Your Easynews Credentials

Enter your Easynews username and password. These are the same credentials used for Web access.

 

Step 5: Finish and Test

Click Connect or Update to start accessing Usenet through Easynews. If the connection fails, double-check your username, password, and SSL port settings.
